Get the taste
A.Tibbz is a local song-writer, producer and singer from Boston. One night he texted me to stop by the studio to collaborate on a project together. This was probably one of my favorite projects to do because of the vibe. I had so much fun throughout the entire process.
As he kept playing and replaying his lyrics for correction, I sat and started drawing. I love working with other artists and supporting each other’s work and passion.
LAB
A Local artist named LaB contacted me through social media because he liked my style of work. He was mainly a music producer but he was finally ready to drop his first album. LaB is an acronym for “Life is about balance” which was very fitting to his lyrical style. I listened to a few of his songs and came up with the concept or being smart and loving at the same time.
Hollyweird
A long-time friend from middle school asked if I could design his next cover art, and of course I was more than delighted to do so. The inspiration to this cover art design came from one of his songs called “visions” ft. Mr. GOODBARZ. The song speaks about the difficulties growing up, especially as young black male in today’s society. He talks about oppression and the fear of being another black man behind bars. The design concept came from having “visions” of freedom and a life fulfilled with greatness.
NAVSTRODAMUS
After creating the EP Cover for “Get the taste,” a friend (NAV) of A.Tibbz reached out for a specific-detailed, oriented design. This has been by far one of the most challenging commissions I have ever received for a couple of reasons:
1. Not my typical style of art
2. Text in a different language that had to be hand written.
This took me several attempts to recreate because I was completely out of my comfort zone. Finally, I told myself to just have fun with it and like Bob Ross says… “stop over thinking it!” Both, Nav and I were really happy with the results.
