About the project
One day, I had a random conversation with an owner of a cannabis dispensary at a bar. This lead to a a new project idea: designing labels for cannabis packaging. Whenever I have the chance to enhance my skills and knowledge, I’ll open up Youtube and look for a “how to tutorial.” This helps me stay up to date with new trends in the creative world of graphic design.
It is always import to understand your design from start to finish. Doing research for the printing capabilities your vendor can provide is helpful before you start your design process! Knowing my limitations gave me the idea to design a label in which some areas would be transparent. The transparency allows the customer to view the product before purchasing, which most dispensaries do not offer.
Overall, this was a fun designing experience because of the freedom I was allowed to have. It was a great way to get out of my comfort zone, learn new skills and test myself using colors I normally wouldn’t touch. I got to play around with typography, which I do not do often unless it’s on paper.
