Auborn House of pizza
Working with Spectrum Marketing fresh out of college allowed creativity to flourish in different manners due to the fact that the client didn’t always know what they’d want. This works out great when you are given the opportunity to think and create freely. Auborn House of Pizza originally had a college-style typography as their headings and was sort of hard to read. All they wanted in their new menu design was “elegancy,” “fancy” and pictures.
I was really intimidated at first because, the layout size had to stay the same. I remember thinking “SOOOO… I have to keep all the same copy ANDDDDD add photos? HOOOWWW?!” However, I accepted the challenge and the results were truly beautiful. I was so proud because this project opened the doors and trust of my art directors for assignments I was eager to get my hands on.
Yalla!
DUCK. DUCK. GOOSE. The assignment was passed around to multiple designers until it made it’s way to my desk. The client wanted something similar to what they already had but with a touch of red. Their menu was black and white so they felt their design was a little bland and didn’t accurately represent their culture or place of origin.
I took a look a look at what they had, changed the typography and redesigned the placement of their menu items, and like they asked, added hints of red. At the time, the only menu we were redesigning was their to-go menu. Once the client approved, they were finally so delighted with the results that they requested the I handle the rest of their restaurant’s rebrand. I believe what I did differently than my peers is try to connect with their homeland and really showcased the beauty their country had to offer.
